INTERNATIONAL – Recently we’ve been a little obsessed with getting under the skin of Nokia Chat, the new beta app for instant messaging with GPS elements mixed in for good measure. On my mission to understand this sliver of software inside-out I spoke in depth to the man behind it, product manager Kristian Luoma. INTERNATIONAL – You might expect us to blindly champion Nokia Maps 2.0 over Google Maps, but here on Conversations we’re all about getting fired up about any apps out there that help push the boundaries of how we behave with our mobiles and ultimately how they can improve our lives. So today’s announcement sees Nokia committing a further USD 150 million in Nokia Growth Partners (a global private equity and venture capital management firm), with a vision of investing the money in promising companies that are striving to tightrope the cutting-edge in order to improve the mobile space.

BOSTON, USA – Earlier this week I got to chat to Andrew Mahon, the man heading up Nokia Email and currently steering it through it’s early days as a beta application. Keen to highlight a vision of simplicity, and the way Nokia Email is pushing to overcome general hurdles relating to mobile email – lack of awareness and difficulty of set-up – Mahon went on to talk about the application in more depth, and where focus has been placed to ensure we’re met with the best possible user experience when it finally launches.

INTERNATIONAL – It’s one of those peculiar words. The Finnish word for door, “Ovi“, can sound soft, strong or strange depending on where you come from, where you’re living, your cultural influences, and a multitude of other factors. I thought everyone I knew would say it pretty much the same way, so I asked a bunch of them. Turned out I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Of course its subtle and subconscious, but surely how we say something and how we hear it in our head can influence how we feel towards anything, even product or a service. Anyway, here’s my short video of people in my life, living in London, saying “Ovi“…
