N-Gage gamers direct future developments

GLOBAL – Back in July we talked about the birth of the N-Gage Feedback Forum, a fresh approach that encourages anyone to make suggestions and vote on ways to make N-Gage better. It was a little sink or swim back then, but this next-gen suggestion box has turned out to be a great tool that the mobile gaming community has keenly adopted, and most importantly is actually affecting real changes and developments.

Can we learn from communities in India and Africa?

KENYA AND INDIA – Just listened to the segment I most wanted to see here at the Way We Live Next event, at Nokia House Espoo. James has been writing up some talk summaries at the end of each session (and a growing round up), but I wanted to just point out one question that came to mind after listening to Jan Blom’s talk about India and Jussi Impiƶ’s video from Kenya.

Jan and Jussi pointed out a common theme around how Kenyans and Indians tackle the challenges of access, power, tools, and tech in general. The solutions that stood out usually had something to do with community and sharing.

Changing India and connecting the next billion

ESPOO, Finland - Research isn’t just about new technology that’s better than what we have now. Just as important (if not more important) is technology that helps change whole countries and nations. According to Nokia’s head of research in Nokia, Jan Bloom, Nokia’s ambition is to “connect the next billion”, with 10 million new subscribers on a monthly basis. In fact, during Jan’s talk, about 6,000 new subscribers will sign up to a mobile service. Which is remarkable, given it’s currently the middle of the night there.
