LONDON, England - We don’t normally get involved in other people’s schtick here on Conversations, but a while back we hooked up with Moblogging supremo, Alfie Dennen to help him out with on of his mad-capped schemes – taking Glastonbury mobile. INTERNATIONAL – Following my little Ovi pronunciation experiment earlier in the week, I got tipped off to an interesting new website that Nokia is sponsoring dubbed lovetheaccent.com.
SOMEWHERE – The term, Location Based Services, or LBS, has been kicking around for a long time. Like many terms full of baggage (WAP comes to mind), there are lots to like and lots to dislike. A comment by Alfie Dennen a week or two back has been bouncing in my head. So, today I did a perusal of some posts on LBS to see what the sentiment is.
Overall, LBS is still viewed as a failed promise. But I get a feeling that, unlike many years ago, we seem to have a better grasp of what we want (or not) out of it. Also it has faded into the background as an enabler, hence we don’t see it for what it is (’LBS is dead. Long live LBS’?). Read my take in the post below.
GLASTONBURY, England – The festival might be over, and the fields clear of tents but that doesn’t mean we have to forget about it. As previously reported here, to support the Love of the Farm – Leave no trace project, a moblog has been set up to document the happenings of the UK bestest summer music festival.
GLASTONBURY, England – We’re only days away from the start of one of the biggest music festivals in the world and it’s good to see that the latest tech is being employed to keep revelers in the know. Alfie and crew from Moblog have collaborated with the likes of WaterAid, Greenpeace and Oxfam to create the ultimate Glastonbury Mashup. Armed with a gaggle of N78s and N82s, the crew will be wandering the festival and using the phone’s cameras and GPS to shoot and geotag the most interesting stuff at the event.
