LONDON, England – Why is it that Nokia turns up in the most curious places? I was toddling around on Facebook when I noticed a ‘friend’ was off to something called “Secret Cinema”. All’s fair so far. I took a look at the link and it was a story about Secret Cinema, the concept and what not.
LONDON, England – We recently caught up with Giles Pocock, who takes care of Nokia’s relationships with Movies and Music Videos. His job takes him all over the world and given that it’s a truly global role, his working day begins and ends long before and after ours. Here Giles tells us a little more about what he does along with how and when he does it.
GLOBAL – Although the invitation to the Academy Awards is probably stuck in the post, Nokia has a long history with the movies. From The Saint to The Matrix Nokia devices have cropped up in all sorts of places on screen. Some worked well, whilst some worked not so well. Not ones to focus on the negative, we hooked up with the people responsible to find out which ones came out on top. Giles Pocock, Entertainment Partnerships and Product Integration works closely with Ruben Igielko-Herrlich from Propaganda Gem to make the appearances happen so we asked them to pick their top five. GLOBAL – Nokia’s involvement with movies isn’t just about promotional hook ups. Seeing the phone as the fourth screen (after Cinema, TV and PC) makes working with movies not just relevant, but essential.
USA – Next month sees The Dark Knight, the latest in the Batman revival series and surely one of this year’s blockbusters, hit the screens across the world. To celebrate, Nokia has hooked up Warner Bros to offer the 6205 exclusively on Verizon wirless. The phone comes with a bunch of Batman extras including wallpapers, voice tones, animated screen-savers and a full trailer of The Dark Knight itself.
