ESPOO, Finland – It’s been a busy week or two here at Nokia Conversations. We had a big device launch last Monday, Nokia bought the amazing Plazes yesterday, and today there’s the big news about Symbian. But, that’s not really what I want to talk about here. Really, all because there’s so much big news, it doesn’t mean that nothing else is going on.
GLOBAL – My watch stopped working a few months ago (actually, before Christmas). Rather than get it repaired, I decided to get a new one. As I was in the US in January, I decided that’d be a good place to pick one up, reasonably cheaply (I fancied something more than a Swatch).
But I couldn’t find one I wanted.
GLOBAL – Messing around at the weekend on the Nokia mobile site (okay, I was bored) I stumbled across what I thought was a great little app. Pocket Express packs a ton of useful info into a neat little app, offers a free version and upgrades for those who want more. When I mentioned it to Charlie though, and once he’d had a look, his instant response was simply “why is it always news, sport and the weather?”
ESPOO, FInland – It was only a little over a week ago that we wrote about the N95-3 firmware update coming in June and guess what, June comes early in Finland! Yep, the update is now available to download.
USA – The original source of Amy Gahran’s problems stem from Nokia Software Update. The software responsible for ensuring the latest version of firmware is available on your device. In Amy’s case, updating the firmware on her new N95 turned the device into a brick, and resulted in her experiencing Nokia’s US customer service.
UK – Nokia has just launched a smart new scheme on its UK site, dubbed Test Pilot Reviews. A wing of the My Nokia channel, this newly created corner of the site is all about showcasing personal reviews of handsets that have been given to six lucky registered My Nokia users each month.
USA – When Amy Gahran called about getting her bricked N95 fixed she was told it could be 30 days before she’d see her phone again. What’s more, she’d have to ship it herself. We’ve taken these issues to Nokia USA and they’ve come back with some good, and useful info.
BRUSSELS, Belgium – If you’re a creative type and find yourself around Brussels tomorrow evening then you should get yourself along to the Nokia Trends Lab. With Belgium’s hottest mixing DJ-duos, Shameboy, on the decks it promises to be a top outing.
