GLOBAL – Music played a big part at Nokia World last week. Not only were both the Nokia X6 and X3 big hits, but news that the latter would be a Comes with Music only device, helped solidify what would previously be considered a service and a product as simply a solution. The kind of solution that gives you as much space as you’d really need to store all the music that you’ve downloaded for free, but legally, through Comes with Music. We spoke to Jo Harlow, who’s involved in the launch of the Nokia X6 and X3 at Nokia. When we told her some of the initial reaction to the devices – one tech website suggested the X6 was the most beautiful Nokia device yet – she was over the moon. Understandably.

STUTTGART, Germany – Music just got a whole lot more interesting, with the introduction of the Nokia X6. 3.2-inch touchscreen? Check. 32GB of storage? Check. 35 hours of music playback? You guessed it, that’ll be a check. Did we mention the blow-your-mind design? We’ve only just clapped eyes on the sleek and sexy X6 and already we can’t keep our peepers off it. At a touch under 14mm thin, it’s slim frame packs plenty of power and will leave music lovers in no doubt as to how they’ll be listening to music on the move when the device goes on sale this side of Xmas. What’s more, the Nokia X6 is a Comes with Music device which means you’ll be able to tune into as much all-you-can-hear music as you like without having to spend a penny extra.

LONDON, England – New lessons were learned in shooting and directing music videos recently when the video for the Noisettes new single ‘Saturday Night’ was shot using only Nokia devices. 64 Nokia N95 8GBs were attached to metal arms to create “The Transformer”, a multi-eyed video camera which captured much of the footage. 70 fans were also armed with Nokia devices to help capture the scenic stuff.

LONDON, England – Tomorrow will see the Nokia 5800 Comes with Music edition go on sale sim free in the Nokia Flagship store, Regent Street London. To celebrate, the folks at the store have come up with a nifty little initiative, to both let people know about the new offering, but also to encourage a bit of device recycling. The first 100 people to show up between midday and one o’clock at the flagship store tomorrow (GMT) will be able to get a 50 per cent discount on the normal price of £299. The only catch, you’ll need to recycle two old devices to get the discount (and be first in the queue).

GLOBAL – There’s been plenty written about Comes With Music, specially since it’s launch in the UK yesterday. But this piece on Wired.com caught my eye, suggesting as it does that CWM “could be the biggest challenge yet for iTunes and Apple’s dominance in digital music services”.

Black Eyed Peas founder Will.I.Am has come all the way from the States to talk to us about what Nokia’s approach to Music means to him. Interesting insight too. The fact there are very few stores left in the USA now, and only a few left in the UK.
