STUTTGART, Germany – Last week’s Nokia World 09 event was peppered with smart bite-size chunks of software, intriguing innovations and news nuggets that continue to rattle our interest. One such piece was Playlist DJ, a sliver of music software that’s accessible via the homescreen of the new Nokia X6. It enables you to toy with a set of sliders (graphic equalizer style) to find music to suit your mood. All sounds a bit hippy, I know, but we had a demo of it, and it’s surprisingly simple and promises to be a pretty effective alternative method of picking tunes according to your frame of mind.
Now, hands up, we weren’t quick enough on the draw with our camcorder to film our demo of Playlist DJ in action on the Nokia X6, but luckily others were. Click through to watch a brief video shot by Fone Arena, and to share your comments on this interesting mini music app.

GLOBAL – Music played a big part at Nokia World last week. Not only were both the Nokia X6 and X3 big hits, but news that the latter would be a Comes with Music only device, helped solidify what would previously be considered a service and a product as simply a solution. We spoke to Jo Harlow, who’s involved in the launch of the Nokia X6 and X3 at Nokia. When we told her some of the initial reaction to the devices – one tech website suggested the X6 was the most beautiful Nokia device yet – she was over the moon. Understandably.

You guessed it, that’ll be a check. Did we mention the blow-your-mind design? We’ve only just clapped eyes on the sleek and sexy X6 and already we can’t keep our peepers off it. At a touch under 14mm thin, it’s slim frame packs plenty of power and will leave music lovers in no doubt as to how they’ll be listening to music on the move when the device goes on sale this side of Xmas.
