GLOBAL – Four times in the last 10 days, things that I deal with on a daily (hourly, sometimes continuous) basis have run out of memory. There was the server that hosts this very site (sorry!), my laptop (so small at its launch it was pulled out of a manila envelope) and my phone. With our computers, we sometimes expect it. Over ambitious in our use of applications on our computers (I discovered that I had, hidden in the dock, some 30+ websites open, amongst pretty much every useful app I have on the machine) we tend to occasionally ask more than they’re capable of delivering. GLOBAL – We wrote in December about the addition of S60 support to Aptana Studio, the open source Ajax and Web development suite. With 3 million downloads so far, Aptana is one of the best app suites to develop mobile applications in, and the addition of support for Nokia Web Runtime (the plugin is available now) means the path to getting apps onto Nokia devices suddenly got a lot easier. Add to this the new Ovi Store and the next phase of the Calling All Innovators competition, and things are looking very rosy indeed for mobile app development.
BARCELONA, Spain – Nokia today unveiled details of Ovi Store which is set to go live to consumers in May this year. Offering a range of content including applications, games, videos, widgets, podcasts, location-based applications and personalised content, Ovi Store will be available on S60 and Series 40 devices.
