ESPOO, Finland – I used to be one of those people who would say “you get what you pay for,” and tell folks to quit complaining when one of their “free” online services was having some service issues. Think about it: you are using a service for free and it breaks down. Why should you get mad? You don’t pay anything for it. That makes you a free-loader of some sort, right? Beggars can’t be choosy.
Wrong. And I’ve finally realized why.
ESPOO, Finland – Ok, if you’re like me, you’re all excited for what cool things we showed this past week at Nokia World. But, in the mean time, I need to discharge all my open tabs that I’ve been collecting to share with you. They’re about Nokia products, but worth mentioning and discussing.
What are you waiting for? Read on.
ESPOO, Finland – I am trying to clear the tabs open in my browser. Every week I see a bunch of interesting articles and try to group them thematically and then share the links with you.
ESPOO, Finland – If there is one constant in this whacky tech industry, it’s that products get faster and better. Every so often, I get a good glimpse at our future portfolio, and comparing it with the advances we’ve had in the past years, this constant holds.
ESPOO, Finland – Nokia has many ways in which it works with customers on products (here is a great overview). The folks at Nokia Beta Labs are constantly finding software and services that are being developed and many in internal testing with employees (though our Alpha Labs team, of course). When they find something interesting, they put them in the Beta Labs for the public to use, rate, comment on, and help improve. And, beta products that do well end up graduating and going off into the world.
ESPOO, Finland - When I was a kid, I used to love to read Mad Magazine. One section that I particularly loved was the ‘Snappy answers to stupid questions‘ where the graphic would show a semi-obvious situation, a person asking a stupid question, and a snappy sarcastic reply from the person in the semi-obvious situation.
ESPOO, Finland – We wrote last week about how Nokia is tackling changes in the USA but yesterday, head of design at Nokia, Alastair Curtis told Finnish paper Helsingin Sanomat that in the next few months “US operators will carry a lot of new products from us”.
