GLOBAL – The S60 Twitter app on everyones lips (or rather beaks) at the moment is the quite brilliant Gravity. It’s interface is extremely clear, and it’s tough not to get suckered in by its velvet-smooth transitions and ease of use. That said it’s a paid-for S60 Twitter app and one of the pricier ones. But with this week’s emergence of the smart new Twittix S60 app (pictured), which is the highest flier of all S60 Twitter apps? Is Twibble the wind beneath your tweeting wings (it has recently been updated with new features)? Or Stew for the Nokia 5800 or Dabr? Is there some other S60 Twitter app we haven’t heard about that deserves shouting about? Let us know your favourite in our new S60 Twitter app poll below.
What’s you’re favourite Twitter app? We’ve listed the most prominent S60 Twitter apps and put them in alphabetical order, so take your pick and click.
ESPOO, Finland – Yesterday, I had fun talking with folks about the new Ovi Theme. The theme was well received and I hope the Ovi team comes out with more fun stuff. I think they are just too modest and quiet, trying to cautiously deliver in an area that is new and growing for Nokia.
In the course of the discussion, folks were talking about three other things: a mobile medicine guide, a CEO from a large mobile device manufacturer discussing netbooks, and a new Twitter app in final rounds of a private beta (which sparked a thought). And it’s these three things I want to spread to the rest of you, so read on.
ESPOO, Finland – Folks have been abuzz about an Ovi theme making the rounds. Well, there was a theme that the Ovi team has been working on and it reached a point where they told me I could release it (or I think they did).
Roman and Marco showed some screenshots earlier, but I guess that no one seems to have the file (just saw Roman’s download link). Well, of course, being good folk, we offer it here for you to download (see link below).
GLOBAL – There’s no stopping the current hurricane that is Twitter and although there are plenty of options for accessing Twitter on your S60 device (including Stew, Dabr and Twibble) but now there’s a new kid on the block thanks to the folks at MobileWays.de. News of Gravity comes courtesy of The Guru who reckons the app “runs great on any S60 3rd Edition smartphone”. We’ve yet to try it out, but going by Symbian-Guru’s review of the beta, it looks pretty appealing. Continue reading>>
ESPOO, Finland – Nokia has just revealed the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic handset. In the same vein as it’s 5800 XpressMusic sibling the new Nokia 5630 is far from a conventional music phone – a fully fledged member of the S60 family, this slender smartphone has a host of unlikely talents, such as being the slimmest N-Gage device yet at just 12mm thin.
Read on for details of Nokia’s newest music phone and get the full lowdown on its surprising features.
ESPOO, Finland – Forum Nokia works hard to help developers create and promote applications on the S60 platform and now developers have been given an extra boost in the form of a new widget development platform. Nokia WRT Plugin for Aptana Studio is the latest release from Forum Nokia and gives developers the opportunity to create widgets for S60, without knowing anything about S60. Aptana Studio is a popular development environment and this plugin means existing users will be able easily turn their attention to S60 as a potential platform.
GLOBAL – As the N-Gage platform gradually evolves, with more devices becoming compatible with the service (the N78 and 6210 navigator earned their N-Gage wings last week), it’s interesting to see an N-Gage game emerge that embraces non N-Gage handsets. The game in question, is a curious upcoming title called Yamake, and what particularly stands out about this cutesy game is that N-Gage players can share levels and aspects of the game with friends with S60 3rd edition devices that don’t support the N-Gage platform.
ESPOO, Finland – My article on the bangs and bumps of a mobile phone got a few comments and posts. AdamF, of course has the best story, though it is a friend of a friend kind:
