GLOBAL – July is typically a quiet month here at Conversations (well, it was last year) so to see us through we’ve got a whole series of features to keep us busy for the month (which we are well aware, doesn’t start until Wednesday, but we like to start stuff on a Monday).

This healthy twist on Nokia’s smallest Nseries sees the N79 Active launch paired with a Polar Bluetooth WearLink heart rate belt. This smart piece of heart monitoring kit and the N79 Active will also take full advantage of a new version of Nokia Sports Tracker that will be released simultaneously when the new device begins shipping shortly.

GLOBAL – Annoyingly, the app itself isn’t out yet but the newly renamed NokiaviNe has been turned over to a collection of blogging enthusiasts around the world, to try out for a couple of months. Ms Jen from Darla Mack is one and she’s going to be charting her course, as it were, on Darla Mack’s site (disclaimer – we’re big DM fans!). Before she does though, she’s given a little bit of background on the app that I think has most intrigued me, at least (for several reasons).

Corporate social responsibility is an important issue for Nokia, and often one of the hardest things to work out is where the border lies between CSR and individual choice. Fitness is clearly an issue where the boundaries blur, and while there’s a sizable and growing fitness community, there are plenty of potential people who would be put off by a phone guilting him or her into jogging. But is prominent awareness of a feature really suggestion?

ENGLAND – The UK’s annual Bike Week event is only a few weeks away and in preparation, the team at Nokia have put together all the activities taking place using Sports Tracker. It works really well with a neat search function to find routes near you and the ability to click on an activity to get all the details. Nokia is an official sponsor of the week and will be showing off the latest in mapping and navigation.

ESPOO, Finland - We’re big fans of Tommy V here (he’s the guy responsible for Nokia Beta Labs) and his latest suggestion is just spot on for where Nokia needs to be. He wants to turn blogging responsibilities over to the software developers, so they can have a direct connection with users.
