One year of Nokia Conversations

ESPOO, Finland – Wow. Today is our first anniversary (we went public on 21 April 2008*) and it’s amazing what we’ve accomplished in one year. When we set off on this adventure, we sort of had our own ideas on how it would be received, what challenges we would face, and where we would be at this stage. But, we really came to this with open minds and few expectations, keeping us ready to grow and respond to conditions as needed.

As with many milestones, we’d like to pause and take stock of some of our highlights (and “lowlights”) and even think a bit about the coming year. Please read on and see if you remember the year the same way we do.

Top debates on Nokia Conversations in 2008

ESPOO, Finland – We were looking back at the activity across our streams. Comments, views, hits, and stuff all pretty much point to the same top stories that generated the most debate and comments (listed below). I also want to use this moment to thank all of you for making this site what it truly is meant to be, a place for us to all talk about stories from around the Nokia neighborhood. Without all of you, we would be just a bunch of hot air.

Now to the top debates of the year!

A fake Nokia Chinese fake and more on The 1100 Club and VoIP (BONUS: S60 and Ovi events, too)

ESPOO, Finland – First we had real phones available in real shops spurning real fakes. Then real phones that weren’t available, being faked. Now we have phones that aren’t even real being faked. Go figure. I found out via Unwired View that Mobile Mentalism found some pics of a Chinese phone that is based on nothing more than a Nokia patent.

The report of the death of VoIP has been grossly exaggerated

ESPOO, Finland – Today I’d like to take the opportunity to point out an article by a respected journalist that was well written and balanced (like always), but also a bit off.
