SAN FRANCISCO, USA – Last week Conversations editor Charlie Schick was out at Web 2.0 expo 2009 in San Francisco, shooting clips of some of the coolest stuff from the show floor. One of the lesser-seen slivers of software was a smart Associated Press (AP) touchscreen news app, slated to launch in May to coincide with the opening of the Ovi Store, primed for use on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and then the Nokia N97 in June.
We witnessed the tactile Associated Press news app in action, demoed by Kate Butler from the AP. It features a slick interface for engaging with the latest news and photos – you can even caption their images with comments or share pics. Click through to watch a video of it in action on the N97.

SAN FRANCISCO, USA – Nokia has signed a deal with sci-fi sage and the creator of Heroes, Tim Kring, to launch his latest project ‘Code named TEVA’ via Nokia’s Ovi Store this summer. As you’d expect from the man behind the twist-laden TV show, many details on the content are being kept firmly under lock and key. Yet we do have some fascinating first info to divulge (including the ‘Code named TEVA’ logo – pictured), plus more details on new partners joining the Ovi Store fold, ready for when its doors officially swing open in early May. USA and ENGLAND – The wait is over folks, it’s time to get your hands on Point and Find. The app is available now to users in the UK and USA. This first beta version will recognise barcodes and cinema posters, offering up more than we originally expected. Scan a barcode to get more product info, and in time, the best prices on a product. Movie posters will throw up the option to view a trailer and in some parts even the ability to book tickets.
